Proposals for a new hotel included the conversion of the existing building along with a new rooftop extension. Internally new bedrooms were fitted within the existing building layout with care taken to minimise alterations to the existing external façades.
As part of the Grade II Listed Heals department store complex, the site was subject to extensive negotiation with the Local Authority and English Heritage.
