We were appointed to carry out a working drawing package and on-going site co-ordination for an approved planning application on the site of a youth hostel based in East Dean on the South Downs. It was subject to a fire many years ago and had been left in a dilapidated state ever since.
The local authourity wanted the new building to be designed with sustainability as a major consideration; with that in mind, the new hostel is clad in cedar boarding and has a sedum blanket system Green Roof.
The hostel has 30 en-suite bedrooms including one room adapted for wheelchair use, a large social lounge, and extensive external grounds.
