The conversion of an existing office building in a central West End conservation area presented a number of unique challenges that included the construction of individual room in room bedrooms to ensure adequate isolation from street noise outside and from structure-borne noise from the nightclub below.

A change of use application was required as well as working with Westminster Council to agree design details of how the existing building fabric might be affected by the works including an analysis of sight lines at roof level to notable local landmarks such as Nelson’s Column.

The hotel successfully opened in time for Summer 2012 and continues to be one of Whitbread’s best performing London hotels with occupancy rates of around 95%.
