Having purchased the independently run Belgrave Hotel and converted it to a Premier Inn in 2008, Whitbread appointed Axiom Architects to develop a 60 bed extension on land available within the demise.
There were a number of constraints which the design had to take into account, including an historic covenant restricting the positioning of any new development, the need to maintain sea views from adjoining hotels and a steeply sloping site.
The extension is an elegant three-storey building with modern styling but one which sits comfortably with its many Victorian villa neighbours.
