The importance of the home and its sense of place is intuitively understood and we all know what we like, even if we are not sure why. Therefore, to design permanent or temporary homes that offer the end user security, enjoyment and value for money, is to expose the architect’s skill to the closest scrutiny.

Living spaces come in many guises; one-off houses, apartment blocks, private and sheltered housing estates, residential care homes, even hotel rooms. Each client has a specific list of criteria to be satisfied, whether for an individual design or to achieve corporate consistency. It is a tough job.
